Childcare funding

Where the safety and well-being of your child is concerned, it is important to select the best childcare and education that you are able to afford. In order to help you calculate this it is useful to be aware of what financial help is available. Outlined briefly below are details of the assistance which may be available to you. The nursery management will be happy to discuss these in more detail.

Childcare Vouchers/Tax-Free Childcare

Working parents may be eligible to pay part of their child's nursery fees through childcare vouchers. These are usually offered through your employer as a salary sacrifice scheme, meaning that an agreed amount will be deducted from your pre-tax salary. At Sunshine we are registered with a large number of childcare voucher companies, so please contact us if you would like to use them. If we are not registered with the company that your employer uses then we will be more than happy to create a new account.

Tax-free childcare is a new government scheme to help working parents with the cost of childcare. Parents can open an online account to pay for their childcare. For every £8.00 a parent pays into the account, the government will pay in an additional £2.00. Parents can receive up to £2000.00 per child, per year, towards their childcare costs (Up to £4000.00 if your child has a disability).

Early Years Free Entitlement

The Early Education Funding (EEF) is funding towards the cost of childcare, irrespective of your financial status. The funding is available the term after your child turns three. A maximum of 15 hours per week can be claimed for 38 weeks a year (term time only). When your child becomes eligible for the EEF you will be notified by the nursery andasked to sign a parent declaration form.

Sunshine Nursery opens for more than three hours per day and 15 hours per week, so parents may be charged additional parental contributions for the nursery to remain sustainable. These contributions will include the extra benefits and additional services that children receive and enjoy at Sunshine Nursery.

For example:
  • Time beyond the EEF funded session times
  • Higher staffing ratios than those recommended by Ofsted
  • Specialist teaching and a highly qualified staff team, again above and beyond the specified regulatory requirements
  • Extra activities, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Leavers Book
  • Outings
  • Visitors to the nursery
  • Ingredients for cooking, and food for celebrations i.e. Diwali, Christmas and Chinese New Year
  • Snacks are included in the fees
Nappies, wipes etc are to be provided by the child's parent/carer.

All EEF funding will be taken off at the point of delivery. We do offer some fully funded places but when they have been allocated then additional fees will be charged for. We also take children on the two-year-old funding offer, please contact us to find out more about this.
